ABOUT

TIM EVANS

 

Tim grew up in the small hamlet of Cardiff, Alberta and called it home for 17 years. He attended high school at Morinville Community High School in Morinville, Alberta and graduated with honours in 2013. After becoming the face of his high school Television program, MCTV, he moved on to study Television News Broadcasting at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in Edmonton, Alberta, graduating in 2015 on the Dean's List. He completed his internship with NAIT's Corporate Communications team in the video assistant and producer capacity.

With experience in many different fields, Tim is a well rounded man with a passion for the news and film industry, willing to take on the challenges of a newsroom and pursuing stories for the most complete and compelling coverage possible. A passion for Social Studies in high school and extensive travel through Europe, North America and Asia has broadened Tim's mind and he credits travelling for enlightening him on different world views and expanding his views to be more globally-focused.

2009 - 2013: Morinville Community High School (Honours: Grades 9-12)

2013 - 2015: Northern Alberta Institute of Technology - Radio and Television Arts (Television) (Dean's List, Semester Two)

 

In Morinville Community High School, Tim gained valuable experience at a younger age with the school's Television program, MCTV.

 

Experience in positions such as; Director, Production Assistant, Teleprompter, VTR Playback, Graphics, Switcher, Audio, Floor Director, Reporter, Meteorologist (Green Screen), Anchor, Camera Operator, Reporter, Live-Hits

EXPERIENCE

 

Tim has gained experience in the industry over many years and has IT and sales experience to compliment on air performances.

- Advised Royal Canadian Mounted Police, K Division members on how to handle media requests and what the media expects from the interaction 

​

- Senior Reporter and Senior Anchor, MIX 107.9 (CKFT FM) - Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta

  - Covered breaking news events, led the coverage of the region's municipal elections, reported on the town councils of Bruderheim, Redwater and Fort Saskatchewan. 

   - Established great relations with regional public relations officers, local police and the provincial GasBuddy representative. 

 

- Announcer and DJ at Ray McDonald Sports Centre for the Morinville CJHL Jets Hockey Team home games, Morinville, AB

  - Call penalties and scores as they are fed to the announcing booth from the referees on ice, play music between whistles, during warmups and in between periods. As part of my duties, my announcing must help build energy in arena to support the home team.

 

- Campus Radio Show Host on NR92.com 

  - Use skills learned to prepare, produce and host a professional radio show.

  - My radio show has been recognized by high-ranking professionals including Bob Kingsley.

  - Conduct live interviews or news reads on air.

 

- NAIT NewsWatch, Edmonton, AB

  - A live-to-tape show broadcast weekly on CTV2. Staffed and produced by third semester TV students at NAIT.

  - Experience as Producer, Anchor, Meteorologist and Sports broadcasting

  - Experience in pre and post production work such as setting up interviews, researching stories and editing.

 

- 2nd Edition News, Edmonton, AB

  - Online entertainment show produced in second semester with a theme.

  - Working as a team to come up with a theme, plan and script the episode, film and edit the sequences.

  - Gather news and conduct interviews for the news segment of the show.

  - Experience as anchor, reporter, shooter, editor and producer.

 

- MCTV, Morinville Community High School's in-house television station

  - A weekly news program that was assembled by the students enrolled in the Television course

  - I was the Director, Production Assistant, Teleprompter, VTR Playback, Graphics, Switcher, Audio, Floor Director, News Reporter,        

    Meteorologist (Green Screen), Anchor as well as Camera Operator.

  - I anchored the majority of my senior year with live, on-set interviews.

 

- Computer literate in both Macintosh and PC platforms

  - Adobe Audition, Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects

  - Final Cut Pro X

  - Keynote/Powerpoint, Pages/Word

  - Various social media platforms

 

- Produced the Graduate's Historian Tribute Video that aired during my high school graduation ceremony.

 

- Produced a Centennial video for the Town of Morinville.

 

- Served on the Alberta Education Minister's Student Advisory Council

  - Councillors were to reach out to schools in their districts and engage students to find what they think of their education and what needs to be improved. Councillors then presented their findings to the Education Minister at regular meetings. 

 

- Media Spokesperson for the "Hair Massacure"

  - For six years, I was the spokeperson for the then St. Valentine's Day Hair Massacre, which evolved to "Hair Massacure."

  - Made good relations with local Edmonton on-scene reporter Bridget Ryan through the "Hair Massacure."

PERSONAL INTERESTS

 

Tim's personal interests include:

- Travel (Tim has travelled extensively through Europe, North America and Asia)

AWARDS

 

Among the many awards Tim has received;

 - Dean's List at Northern Alberta Institute of Technology 

 

 - Role Model Jersey - Awarded to the cyclist who displayed the qualities of a positive role model and leader during the Roger Champagne Memorial Bike Trip, an annual trip through Morinville Community High School that sees participants ride their bikes from Lake Louise to Jasper over three days.

 

- Photography Scholarship

 

- Nominated for the Knights of Columbus Leadership Award

 

- Certificate of Appreciation from former Premier Ed Stelmach for participating in the Premier's Council for Economic Strategy Youth Event on October 4, 2010.
